James Patrick Horner (born November 11, 1973(1973-11-11) in Snoqualmie, Washington) is the current Manager of the Seattle Mariners' Class-A Advanced affiliate, the High Desert Mavericks. He was previously the Manager of the Class-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, also a Mariners' affiliate. Horner also had a nine year playing career, all with in the Mariners' minor leagues.

Professional career

Horner played as a catcher in the Mariners' farm system from 1996 to 2004. The highest level of the minors Horner reached was Triple-A in 2000 with the Tacoma Rainiers. In his nine-year career Horner batted .259 with 116 doubles, six triples, 59 home runs and 298 runs batted in.

Managerial career

In 2006 Horner began his managerial career with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He coached them to a 54 wins, 86 losses season. He returned to Wisconsin in 2007 where he coached them to a 53-83 season.

Horner joined the High Desert Mavericks in 2008. He coached them to a 83-57 record in 2009, winning the first- and second-half California League South Division titles.[1][2] He was named the league's Manager of the Year.[3]
